(PTY) LTD is registered with customs
as an Accredited Agent, with Electronic
Communication (E.D.I) with Custom's
and Excise in all the main gateways
of South Africa ,enabling us to
clear shipments through customs
24 hours a day,365 days a year.
We also have Deferment Bonds lodge
with customs at the international
gateways allowing for quicker customs
releases.
In order to facilitate quick clearance
& delivery the customs duties
and import VAT can be disbursed
on behalf of import clients. Terms
can be arranged for payment of these
costs based on the financial creditability
of the import and the size regularity
of disbursements that are involved.
The staff involved in the customs
clearing department all have excellent
backgrounds in this specialised
field of freight. They are experienced
staff who have the ability to interpret
the correct tariff codes needed
to ensure that excessive customs
duties are not paid over to local
customs authorities.
In addition to ordinary duty paid
shipments, our staff are trained
to handle imports which are coming
into South Africa for repair and
return or for use in exhibitions,
trade shows or show business type
scenarios. The use of ATA Carnets
is recommended for some such cargo
and our staff will assist with all
customs formalities and export procedures.
Customs entries are prepared via
our purpose built computer system.
This system is maintained by Shipshape
one of the leaders in computerised
freight systems used in the freighting
industry. Updates to the system
are done daily to ensure that all
tariff amendments, legislation and
the correct rates of exchange are
used at the time the entries are
framed. In addition to our system
Inter-Sped (Pty) Ltd is being used
as one of the agents to test direct
on line EDI transfer of data from
the agents to SA Customs.
The customs broking department can
also prepare import estimates prior
to shipment, and line by line costings
of goods after they have been landed
in SA. These are both valuable tools
which enable customers to plan orders,
and to cost goods at the time of
receipting them into their own system.
